I generally work from photographs of the subject, either good clear large photographs provided by the client or if the subject is within reasonable travelling distance I am happy to take the photographs myself (a small additional charge may be made for this service).
Portraits are carried out in oils, and all materials used are of the highest quality.
The finished portrait can be supplied either framed or unframed (unframed is recommended if the portrait has to be shipped).
A completion date will be agreed on acceptance of the commission.
If you would like to commission a portrait or landscape painting, please get in touch to discuss your ideas. I am happy to answer your questions and talk about your requirements with no obligation on your part. If you should decide to go ahead with the commission you will then be asked to sign an agreement and pay a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total amount agreed.
If, for any reason, you choose not to accept the finished painting, I will retain the deposit and the painting and you will owe nothing further.
After completion and acceptance of the portrait, you will have the opportunity to order cards and/or prints of the work for friends and family. Please ask for prices.
Pricing
The prices shown below are for a head and shoulders portrait in oils of a single person or animal, with a plain/shaded background. Other sizes are also available. Prices are subject to change.
Prices vary according to the size of the portrait, the number of people or animals included, the complexity and background, and whether or not it is to be framed.
Special/detailed backgrounds will generally add 25 - 50% to the prices shown, as will additional people or animals.
A full-length portrait will also be 25-50% extra depending on the size and detail required.
Framing – the prices shown refer to unframed paintings, but I can arrange framing if required at reasonable prices.
If the portrait is to be shipped, p&p costs will be agreed in advance of accepting the commission.
